Lifestyles of the Rich

Busy busy busy!

It looks like we have a VERY busy October so let’s keep in mind that God’s love is our motive in doing, serving and reaching out to others! Shalom.

Lifestyles of the Rich
Follow My Lead: 1 Timothy 6:17-21

Who are the Rich?
US! Prof. Donald Sunukjian posits that the Bible teaches that the ancient rich were those who had more than 2 changes of clothes and who had more than just food for the day. We certainly far exceed that standard.

Three Challenges to the Rich

1. Don’t be Conceited: Don’t think that your position of wealth is a result of your own doing.

2. Don’t Fix our Hearts on Riches: Don’t have wealth the focus of life.

3. Do Good: Have good works as the commodity in your life.

Weekly Application Exercises
1. Reflect on the balance of your “good works account.” How rich are you in good works? If your life were focused with the same effort on good works as the effort put forth on school, work, accruing wealth, hobbies or other priorities, what would you life look like? How can you be more wealthy in good works?

2. Money and the love of money is a theme throughout the Scriptures because of how it serves as a lure away from God. How can you enjoy what God has given more without fixing your hope on it?
