Hey Hey Harvest South Bay!

It has been awhile since I’ve been able to update the sermons on the website, but I did a massive upload this last week! I’ll try and find a few of the missing ones as the weeks progress!

Have a great Mother’s Day!

Hey Hey Harvest South Bay!
Hope you are having a great week as we all participate on the 50 Day Spiritual Adventure! What do you like about our church today? (I love the fact that everyone has been so great about getting aboard on the 50 DSA so enthusiastically- I see you all diligently doing your guidebooks!).

Well, REMEMBER THAT THIS SUNDAY IS DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME!!!! SPRING FORWARD!!! Hope to see you all on time on Sunday as we continue in our series.

That being said, I better go and complete today’s material in the journal!

Hey Harvest South Bay!
Hope you are all having a great week! I waited ’til this point in the week to remind you all that TOMORROW is the beginning of our 50-day Spiritual Adventure curriculum! Put aside 10 minutes to begin the Journal (quiet time handbook) sometime tomorrow (and the next day and the next!).

Here are the notes to this last week’s sermon… Hopefully I’ll get the backlog of audio files up as well onto the website!

Don’t forget!

MERRY CHRISTMAS HARVEST!
I pray that you are all safe and dry this week of deluge. We are trying to get healthy (sick kid, sick wife) and be festive amidst the desire to go buy presents and send cards and do 100 million other holiday things. Let’s all agree to spend some good time stopping instead of shopping, being contemplative instead of being consumerist, shall we?

Have a great time thinking of the great condescension of God; how God became a child and a loser and a sacrifice this season of His birth.

Much love and blessings

We are the Losers, My Friend
Advent 2010: Luke 2:1-20

Exposition
Cultural Cues:
A Hurried Journey?

Alone or With Family?

Stable or Living Room?

Main Themes

1. The Great Sacrifice of Christ.

2. God Comes to Losers

Applications for the Week
1. Evaluate your aspirations for the coming year, 2011. Meditate on the heart of your life aspirations and the motives behind them. How can you strive to be more lowly and humble not only in your own mind, but in your service, sacrifice and giving?

2. Remember this Christmas week the culmination of the incarnation. Make sure your thoughts of the birth of Christ lead you to the message of the gospel, the message of the crucifixion, Christ’s resurrection and the hope of heaven as you celebrate this season.
