MERRY CHRISTMAS HARVEST!
I pray that you are all safe and dry this week of deluge. We are trying to get healthy (sick kid, sick wife) and be festive amidst the desire to go buy presents and send cards and do 100 million other holiday things. Let’s all agree to spend some good time stopping instead of shopping, being contemplative instead of being consumerist, shall we?

Have a great time thinking of the great condescension of God; how God became a child and a loser and a sacrifice this season of His birth.

Much love and blessings
Byron

We are the Losers, My Friend
Advent 2010: Luke 2:1-20

Exposition
Cultural Cues:
A Hurried Journey?

	Alone or With Family?

	Stable or Living Room?

Main Themes

1. The Great Sacrifice of Christ.

2. God Comes to Losers

Applications for the Week
1. Evaluate your aspirations for the coming year, 2011. Meditate on the heart of your life aspirations and the motives behind them. How can you strive to be more lowly and humble not only in your own mind, but in your service, sacrifice and giving?

2. Remember this Christmas week the culmination of the incarnation. Make sure your thoughts of the birth of Christ lead you to the message of the gospel, the message of the crucifixion, Christ’s resurrection and the hope of heaven as you celebrate this season.

Happy Advent Season Harvest South Bay!
It is great to walk our church and see all of the festive decorations, reminders of this season of Christ’s birth. May we celebrate by taking His example of humility, charity, and love! Share with someone this season why the birth of Christ means so very much to us!

Congrats to our very talented and very victorious basketball team! FIRST PLACE! And congrats to Maurice for being the MVP! We really need a mascot b/c cheering GO HARVESTERS conjures images of large agricultural equipment.

Have a great week, Harvest! See you all this Sunday as we continue to remember our Lord and His birth.

Byron

Fulfillment Center
Advent 2010: Luke 1:57-80

Exposition
The Narrative (57-66):

The Psalm (67-80)

Application: Why Believe?

1. Look at God’s Track Record.

2. Look at God’s Trusted Character.

3. Look at God’s Transcendent Plan.

Application Questions for the Week
1. Reflect on God’s faithfulness to you personally sometime this week- where you have seen His hand actively guiding and blessing your life. Where in particular have you taken a step of faith and had Him meet you and provide for you? How, now, can you trust in Him in the difficult venture of faith that He asks of you?

2. Meditate on the idea that an author would write a biography of your life. If an author did, what significance would your life have? How would your life fit into the narrative of salvation history? What lives would you have impacted and how could we see the faithfulness of God played out in the decision points of your life?
